Sometimes you never realize how much someone has become a part of you. There are people who become ingrained in your soul; no matter what happens between you in life. They leave their marks on your heart. You may still be close, or far apart; you may still love them or not; but you are forever drawn back to them. Not because you wish your life was any different; it’s not that simple. It has more to do with who you are when you are with them. Holes in your life that they fill without trying; holes no one else even sees. They bring back something that you never knew would go when they left; parts of yourself that you never realized were gone. Things you never even knew that you missed.

Once in a while, you discover that you’ve missed those parts more than you realized. So many little things can bring it back. A wink, a comment, an embrace… And suddenly, you start to remember. You start to laugh. Maybe it’s all at once, maybe a little at a time, but it comes back. It feels so natural and comfortable; like something old and well-worn that still fits you perfectly. You know you can’t wear it all the time, but every once in a while, it feels so good to get it out and slip into it—just for a bit. Just to feel like your old self again for a little while.
