At last, my favorite time of year is beginning. I noticed it for the first time last night—that moment when you undress to get into bed and the air hits your warm skin with that touch of chill. It’s not quite cold enough to give you goosebumps, but still you feel a slight shiver. You slide between the sheets, and they are deliciously cool too, so you cover up and snuggle down until your body heat warms the bed to the perfect temperature. Finally, tonight there is no sweating; no fan needed; no covering and uncovering to try to maintain the right sleeping temperature for that perfect night’s sleep. As the air outside cools, so does the air in the bedroom, so that when morning comes you are snuggled in your warm cocoon of blankets, and you never, ever want to leave…
…especially if you’re lucky enough not to be alone!
